Tony Cascarino marvels at Rangers fan frenzy as former Celtic striker feels radio is coming for him

Tony Cascarino was astounded when he heard the Ibrox atmosphere erupt on Thursday night.

Rangers put on an inspiring performance to beat nine Braga men after extra time and secure a place in the Europa League semi-finals against RB Leipzig.

And Cascarino admitted that he thought the radio was coming from his side as he was adjusting to the game because the noise from the 50,000 powerful home fans was too loud.

“I know Scottish football and Celtic and Rangers are always competitive,” former Celtic striker told talkSport.

“But when the two of them played European nights, the atmosphere was ridiculous.

“I heard the comment, I was in the car for the Rangers game.

“It feels like the radio is playing to me with the atmosphere. I thought, ‘the boys are getting the hang of it, aren’t they?’ What a night. “

As the season comes to an exciting end, the atmosphere of both groups of fans can play a big part in who picks up the final silver trophy.

Rangers move to Scottish Cup action this Sunday when they face Glasgow’s Celtic rivals at Hampden.

And this will be the first time since Ange Postecoglou and Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over at flashback clubs, that supporters would be divided exactly in the middle.

Cascarino added: “This is happening in Parkhead as well so it’s a pair of them, what they bring in atmosphere at the stadiums is second to none.”
