Stephen Kingsley admits Hearts magic goal was all planned along with ‘small chat’ helping to win Scottish Cup final place

Stephen Kingsley admits his miracle goal in Hearts’ Scottish Cup win the semi-final Hibs straight out of the training ground.

Goals from Ellis Simms and Kingsley’s thunderous strike in the first 20 minutes were enough to set up an intriguing final clash against either Celtic or Rangers.

Heart wasn’t in the best shape for the game’s spells even though Hibs was down to ten after Joe Newell was fired for second booking.

But Kingsley admitted his stunning goal actually came from a plan before moving from the training ground.

He told BBC Scotland: “My aim is something we’ve worked on, especially on the other side with Barrie [McKay]but I know I’ll have a small chance if it’s on that side too.

“It’s pretty far away and Barrie invited Liam Boyce in for a little chat. We tried it and thankfully it worked.”

Despite the win, Hearts placed second in the game’s spells but Kingsley insists all that matters is getting through the finals.

“We are delighted,” he added. “It was a tough game and we knew it was going to happen after last weekend.

“To be fair, I don’t think we played at our best but we conceded two goals early and then the distraction to concede made it interesting.

“In the end we won and that’s all that matters.”
