Arsenal can increase their budget with the move of midfielder Konstantinos Mavropanos at the end of this season.

According to German magazine Kicker, the Gunners will receive a fee of £2.5 million for the sale of midfielder Konstantinos Mavropanos regardless of whether Stuttgart remains in the Bundesliga or not. Mavropanos has been here for two consecutive seasons on loan and has a buy-out clause included in the deal.

Mavropanos will most likely stay in Stuttgart after a successful time here.

The 24-year-old Greek player, who has seven caps for Greece, is expected to expire at Arsenal in June 2023. He joined the team for a fee of £1.8 million in 2016, but made only 8 appearances for the first team.

Arsenal have revamped their defense in the past two years, spending a combined £77m on Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White. This season, Mavropanos has made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga and scored 4 goals. However, that impressive achievement is unlikely to help him break into the main Arsenal squad next season.

Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo had some kind words for Mavropanos. He has mind, energy and determination. We need people like him,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Gunners sporting director Sven Mislintat describes the Mavropanos as “the archetype of everything the team stands for: hard work, a thirst for victory and constant self-improvement.”

“And when things don’t go well, he doesn’t turn negative. He always communicates well with his colleagues and is always looking forward.” Mislintat also noted with BILD.
