Inter Milan and Atalanta are inconclusive

Coach Simeone Inzaghi’s teachers and students were held to a draw when they were guests at Atalanta Stadium in round 22 of Serie A at dawn on January 17 (Hanoi time).

Inter’s attack had another underpowered match in Serie A. But this time, they didn’t have the brilliance of defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar, like the 2-1 win over Lazio, to beat Atalanta.

The home team created a series of dangerous opportunities, but the shot was indecisive to win 3 points and take Napoli’s third place. Inter also have the right to regret for missing 2 chances in the last 10 minutes.

Atalanta and Inter’s “tit-for-tat” screen was pushed dramatically in the last 10 minutes. In the 80th minute, Edin Dzeko headed the ball off the goal when the gap was wide open with the Inter striker.

Soon after, striker Luis Muriel failed to beat Inter’s goalkeeper Samir Handanovic in the face-to-face phase. Seven minutes later, Handanovic continued to frustrate striker Mario Pasalic, who rushed in for a second, but failed to hit the center of the ball.

In the final minutes, Inter players held their heads in regret after Danilo D’Ambrosio’s finish. The Italian defender faced the goalkeeper, but the shot went out. This is a situation where D’Ambrosio finishes at high speed and is blocked by goalkeeper Juan Musso, thus not creating a complete ending for Inter.

Coach Inzaghi’s teachers and students held the ball nearly 65% in this match. But Atalanta’s number of shots (12 times) is slightly better than Inter’s (11 times). The home team’s shots on target are also twice that of Inter.

“Too many missed opportunities, especially in the late game”, Gazzetta summed up the great battle at Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

Atalanta lost up to 7 players in this match due to injuries and Covid-19 cases. These are Rafael Toloi, Joakim Maehle, Hans Hateboer, Robin Gosens, Josip Ilicic, Ruslan Malinovskyi and Duvan Zapata. Gazzetta assessed that coach Gian Gasperini has the right to be satisfied with the draw against the defending champion.

Meanwhile, Inter was cut off a series of 8 consecutive wins in Serie A. Now, coach Inzaghi’s teachers and students are only two points ahead of AC Milan, with the same number of matches. The current Serie A championship race in the 2021/22 season is almost a game between the two Milan teams, because in third place, Napoli is 7 points behind Inter.
