Coach Mai Duc Chung: “The team will promote the spirit of Vietnamese women”

The captain of the Vietnamese women’s team expressed his determination to win good results against China even though the opponent was much stronger.

“Like the two opponents in the group stage Korea and Japan, China is also a strong team with better and stronger players. Against a much stronger Chinese opponent, we will have to play defensively. counter-attack, kick the midfield,” coach Mai Duc Chung shared before the confrontation with China in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup.

“Vietnamese players have watched the tapes of the Chinese team’s matches and see that there are many good technical players. We will have to figure out how to control those players to have a good game,” said the captain of the Vietnamese team. Nam added.

Before this tournament, a series of Vietnamese female players contracted Covid-19 during a training trip in Spain and coach Mai Duc Chung’s teachers and students were in danger of dropping out of the tournament due to insufficient force. But then, the players gradually recovered in time and the Vietnamese team passed the group stage.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said: “We only have one athlete waiting for test results, the remaining 22 are in good health. We are very happy that the deeper we go, the more difficult it becomes, the force is recovering gradually. We will continue to maintain the spirit of high determination to compete. The more difficult the opponent is, the more efforts the Vietnamese players need to make.”

The goal of coach Mai Duc Chung’s teachers and students is to win tickets to the World Cup. He affirmed: We will fight very closely to have the best advantage, promote the spirit of Vietnamese women . We are far from home, have to celebrate the traditional New Year here and are ready to make sacrifices to compete. What we want is to get to the World Cup and play to the best of our ability.”

Captain Huynh Nhu is also very determined: “In the match against China, we will maintain our team spirit and strive to achieve the best results. If we win tickets to the World Cup, it will be happiness. with the whole country of Vietnam, is something we have always dreamed of having” , Huynh Nhu shared.

The match between the Vietnamese women’s team and China will take place at 19:00 on January 30 (Hanoi time).
